STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

(By WHALEBONE.) Pixie Gold scored his second. success this season when he captured the Tnal Plate at the Banks Peninsula meeting on Saturday last. By Paper Money from Ga'zeworthy, this three-year-old should do well over sprint distances.

Mountain Guide will be raced on the fiat on the first day of the Whangarei meeting, and will contest the Poroti Hurdles on the second day of that fixture. He was schooled over hurdres at Ellerslie yesterday morning and gave a safe display, although he did not have much pace on. He has not, so tar, contested a hurdle race, and may require experience before being at his best.

Star of the East's running in the Waikato Hunt Cup Steeplechase on Labour Day so disappointed the owner G. Johnston that the gelding has 'been thrown out of work, states the "Star Matamata correspondent. There is a suspicion that this gelding is getting cunning, but in any case he is not generous with anything over 10.0 up.
