MAHENO DELAYED.

EFFECT OF WIND AND TIDE. BERTHING DIFFICULTY. Some delay took place in the berthing of the Maheno, which arrived from Sydney this morning, owing to the influence of the strong north-easterly wind and a strong incoming tide. The vessel was manoeuvring to her berth at the Queen's wharf between eight and nine o'clock, when she was carried in the direction of the eastern tide deflector. Captain Toten found it necessary to drop the anchor, in order to get the vessel into position. The steamer arrived from Sydney with passengers, mails and general cargo, and underwent her usual medical and Customs inspection in the stream before being brought to her berth at the Queen's wharf.
