TAMAKI GYMKHANA.
« SUCCESS OP CHILD RIDERS. Over sixty ponies took part in a gymkhana held on the East Tamaki sports ground on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club and at the conclusion of the competitions prizes were presented to the successful riders by Lady Lockharfc, an old member of the. Hunt. The programme, comprising sixteen events, was arranged- and carried out by Mr. P. H. Smith, huntsman of the Pakuranga Hunt Club, assisted by Mrs. Smith. The funds were in aid of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Mr. B< H. Bishop was judge, assisted by Mr. H. Bullock Webster, master of fhe hunt, and Mr. John Adams. Music was provided by the Otahuhu Mounted Rifles Band. The cup presented by Mr. It.' D. Neal, secretary of the Pakuranga Hunt Club, foi the champion pony was awarded to Mastei T. Muir, Other awards were : —- Child's Pony, 12J hands and under, ridderi bv boy or girl.—Master M. Muir 1, Miss Edith Miller 2. . Best Boy Rider, lOyrs and under.—Gordon Bellingham 1, R. Hamilton 2. Best Girl Rider, lOyrs and under. —M. Woods 1, Amy Marr 2. Best Boy Rider, 16 years and under. —A class: Gordon Bellingham 1, W. Hogan 2. B class : S. Wilkinson 1, W. Tanner 2. Best Fancy Costume, for Boys and Girls.—Master A. Muir (Mexican cowboy) 1, Miss Hilda Gillard (rose of Mexico) 2. Best Tiny Tot Rider.—Little Miss M. Woods 1, Maureen Allen 2. Best Group of Four Ponies from a Primary School. —East Tamaki A team 1. Saddling Race for Boys and Girls, 16 years and under. —A. Muir 1, M. Laws 2,. Best Girl Rider, 17 and under.—Miss E. Woods 1, Miss V. Bennett 2. Best Pony, to be ridden over low brush jumps.—A class: Master M. Johnson 1, Miss Una Bennett 2. B class: W. Hogan 1, G. Bellingham 2. Jumping Competition, best pair of Ponies. —McKinstry and Miss Shirley Watkins 1, S. Wilkinson and Miss P. Gorrie 2. Musical Chairs.—K. Mould 1, K. Bellingham 2. This was a humorous event in which fifteen competitors took part, each being required to dismount from a pony and mount a kerosene tin to the tempo of the music. Potato Race for Boys and Girls.—M. Laws 1, A. Muir 2. Bending Competition on Cycles.—W. Tanner 1, M. Henning 2.
