The Trustees under the Will of the late Humphrey Rawli.ngs offer three Scholarships for competition in December next. The Scholarships are tenable for three years, commencing from the first term in the year 1930, and consist of free tuition at either the Auckland Grammar School or King's College as the paresis of the scholars may choose. A maintenance allowance of £10 per annum, payable quarterly, will also be advanced to each scholar. Only boys under the age of twelve years on December Ist next, attending one of the public common schools of the Provincia< District of Auckland, and the sons of poor parents, will be eligible for the Scholarship. Applications containing the names and addresses of applicants must be sent, not later than Ist December next, to the Trustees, by whom due notice of the time and place of examination will be given. Forms of application may be obtained on applying at the office of the Trustees, First Floor, Lister Building, Victoria Street East, Auckland.

Notice Is hereby given that at a Special Meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council, held on OCTOBER 20, 1929, the following Resolutions were passed and will be submitted for confirmation at an Ordinary Meeting of the Council, to be held on NOVEMBER 25, 1929, at 7.30 p.m. BY-LAW NO. 4. "That the New Lynn Borough Council make the following By-law in pursuance of the powers and provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and its Amendments, and all other powers enabling it in that behalf. This By-law No. 4 shall be read with, and as extending and Amending By-laws No. 1 and No. 3, made in December, 1917, and July, 1922, respectively. The purport of the By-law is :— (1) Water Charges: To repeal the rates and charges previously made by the New Lynn Town Board, and provide for altered rates and charges. (2) Hoardings, Posters, Placards: To amend the By-laws in this respect to provide for greater control of public advertising. (3) Registration of Pedal Bicycles: To provide for more efficient control over pedal bicycles, and offences' against traffic By-laws." A copy of the proposed By-law is deposited at the Council Office, Great North Road, New Lynn, and may be inspected during office hour 3.

That the New Lynn Borough Council doth hereby by Special Resolution, intended to operate as a Special Order, alter the following Street Names within the Borough:— Smith Street to be altered to Croydon Road. Matai Street (Kelston) to be altered to Koromiko Street. Cardwell Street East to be altered to Veronica Road East. Cardwell Street West to be altered to Veronica Road West. J. H. REICH, Town Clerk.
