SUNSHINY OCTOBER.

WITH A WET FINISH,

During the first three weeks the month of October was exceptionally fine, but during the last week the dying winter showed that he still had a bit of "kick" left, and rain which was rather needed fell in earnest, the month ending up with a total of 4.05 inches, which is above the average for October. However the first ten months of the year are a good way behind the figures for the past four vears. For 1929 the fall registered has been 39.90; 1928, 51.34; 1927, 50, 50.32; 1926, 49.05. Bright sunshine registered was above the average, and temperatures were normal, though several nights were distinctly cold. The hottest day was October 29, when the thermometer registered 68 degrees in the- shade.
