RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB.

FIRST RACE OF THE SEASON.

The first event of the '3029-30 yachting season will take place tomorrow afternoon, when the Richmond Cruising Club will hold a race to Beach Haven, on the upper reaches of the harbour. The race will start off: the Ponsonby wharf at 3.15 p.m., the starting line being betwpen the end of wharf and the trig on Watchman Island, starting to the east. From here the course is round Rona buoy, off Birkenhead, which is to be passed on port hand, thence direct to the finishing line off Beach Haven, between end of wharf and buoy moored west. This buoy now replaces the old beacon on the reek in centre of channel. The entries and handicaps are as follow : Starloch, scr; Why Not, Marere, 3m; June, Mowai, sm; Matariki, Lorna, 7m; Wild Wave, 8m; Sun, Leveret, 9m: Sea Crest, Desdemona, 10m ; Lois, 11m ; Phyllis, 25m ; Tamure, 28m ; Maureen, 30m. The race will be started by the threeflag system. Mr. Ivo Denr.es acting as starter, while the Commodore. Mr. T. L. Thompson, will be judge and timekeeper at Beach Haven.
