MT. WELLINGTON ROAD BOARD
A request to the Main Highways Board that provision be made in this year s estimates for the Ellerslie-Panmure Road was decided upon by the Mount Wellington Road Board at its meeting on Tuesday evening. The chairman, Mr. G. **. JW, presided. . ~ . n j It was pointed out that no subsidy ba<J been provided for the road in the list of subsidies for main highways ro_tn'No. 2 district, forwarded by the always Board. The Ellerslie-Panmure Koad, it was stated, had recently been declared a main highway. , It was decided to accept the offer ot a civil engineer to lay down a strip 01 cement penetrated pavement on the ww South Road near Westfield as a test, tlie cost of the materials to be found by tne board, provided there was no evidence- oe damage or wear after 12 months. -L| ie acceptance of the offer is subject to the approval of the Main Highways Board. At the request of the Post and lelegraph Department it was decided to change the name of Morrin Road to tJie old name, St. Helier's Bay Eoad, owmg to confusion with Morrin Street, Ellershe. The J/ipartment advised that on ana after Monday next the present Ellerslie postman's house delivery would be extended to include the whole of the nortnern part of the Mount Wellington district and the greater portion of P an ™ ul , c ; It was required that boxes should at placed at the gates of residences.
