WIFE DESERTION ALLEGED
ARREST OF'IMMIGRANT.

In the Magistrate's Court to-clav, Maurice William Baker, advertisiri" agent, aged 32, was charged that, bein" married, he went through the form of marriage with Xancy Patricia Holmes at Wellington on January S, 1929. He wae remanded till November 7.
The chief detective opposed bail. He said Baker was married in England, and left his wife a week later, coming out to Xew Zealand and marrying again". The magistrate said* he would decide the question in chambers later.
