jIILK COMPANY WIN CUP.
POWER BOARD'S GREAT FIGHT.
The final for the Farmers' Union Trading Company Cup, the trophy allotted by the A.F.A. to the business louses competition, which took place on Blandford Park yesterday afternoon between Power Board and Auckland Milk Company, was productive of one of the most stubbornly contested games of the series. Both sides were strongly represented, and evenly matched, and before a decision was arrived at extra time had to be played. Fast, open, end-to-end exchanges characterised the play throughout, and the score stood one all at the conclusion of the statutory period ■when the teams changed ends for the second time. Immediately on resuming Jlilk Company, after a great effort, got in the lead, but Power Board, far from taking the goal as the deciding factor, attacked with redoubled vigour. Milk Company defence, however, consolidated, and, packing the goal, held the fort till the close, thereby gaining the coveted trophy by the odd goal in three. Mr. L. J. Check made an efficient referee. At the close of the game Mr. J. Ball, chairman of the business houses competition, presented the cup to the winners, and in a neat speech congratulated both teams on the great game they had served up. He commented on the fine sporting spirit that had permeated the entire competition, and trusted that such would always be a feature of their games. Cheers for the winners on the call of the chairman were lustily given, and a similar compliment was paid the runners-up on the call of the Milk Company.
