The monthly meeting of the Epsom Women's Christian Tcmpcranco , Union was held on Thursday afternoon in the Baptist Hall, Inverness Avenue. Mrs. Pirrett presided over the gathering. An interesting report of the recent district convention "was given by Mrs. Ivaspe:. Arrangements were made for the annual meeting to lie held in November. * * * * A farewell bridge party was given at the home of Mrs. N. H. Hooker; River Road, Claudelands, on Wednesday niglit, in honour of Miss A. L. Roby, who is leaving Hamilton to reside in Palmerston North. Mrs.' Hooker was wearing a black and rose georgette; Miss Roby, black, taffeta. Those present included: Mesdames G; Valder, E. Walders, J. McKinnon, T. G. Reynolds, Thompson, J. Kingston, E. D. Pinfold, Johnston, Misse-v E. Scherer, and Hooker. * * * * A special night was held at the Picturedrome, Milford, last night. A large audience collected to enjoy the special film, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and the carnival dance provided by the management. Tremain's orchestra played all the newest cabaret numbers, and balloons, streamers and all kinds of novelties were distributed amongst the dancers. Two cabaret items were given during the evening by Miss Gwen McNaughton's ballet, and were much appreciated. To celebrate the coming of age of j their son Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Bickerton, of Morningside, gave an enjoyable dance in St. Luke's' Hall last evening. The decorations of the hall and supper table were in tones of blue, mauve and cyclamen. A large silver key and lighted birthday cake added to the attractive table. Mrs. Bickerton wore black georgette over rose satin, velvet sash and diamante buckle; Miss Mavis Bickerton, cameo j>ink georgette and gold lace; Miss Thelma Bickerton, cyclamen ninon; Miss Rewa Bickerton, bois de rose crepe fleuri; Mrs. Hunt, figured crepe de chine; Mrs. P. Vause, floral crepe de chine; Mrs. Hutton, black satin; Mrs. G. Brain, grey jersey silk; Mrs. Bailey, black silk, red shoulder spray; Mrs. Way, figured beige nihon; Mrs. Laurie, mauve crepe flouri; Mrs. Trevor Bickerton, cinnamon brown and beige georgette; Miss Murray, ciel blue lace; Miss Berice Credin, salmon pink georgette; Miss H. Lewis, powder blue taffeta; Miss 13. Barnes, green chiffon and silver lace hem; Miss Irene Wilson, white crepe c'e soie and green posy; Miss Mybile, flowered ninon; Miss June Bailey, pale green crepe de chine; Miss W. Buxton, ivory georgette, deep silver hem; Miss Joyce Burnett, sea green* taffeta; Miss Irene Batterill, turquoise blue crepe fleuri and silver; Miss M. Hill, pale pink georgette; Miss E. Burton, green chiffon and silver lace hem; Miss Valma Hutton. apple green silk.
