SYDNEY BOWLER.
VISIT TO AUCKLAND.
PRAISE FOR DOMINION GREENS.
"There is a marked difference in the bowling greens of Australia and New Zealand," eaid Mr. H. J. Honeyfield, a prominent Australian bowler and member of the St. Georee's Bowline Club. Sydney, who is at.present in Auckland. Mr, Honeyfield is really a New Zealander, but has lived for the past forty years in Sydney, and this is his first return visit. He said that the Sydney greens were smooth, hard and fast, and had none of the velvety feel and resiliency of the New Zealand greens. He has found that bowlers get a glad welcome in New Zealand, and has had the pleasure of sampling the Carlton green, with the hopes of having more enjoyable games there before he goes back to Sydney. Coming across before the opening of the season his opportunities of play in New Zealand have been limited, but he has made a point of seeing every bowling green possible, and has been greatly impressed with the excellent way they are kept, Mr. Honeyfield said that there was a warm feeling of regard in Australia for Dominion bowlers, and the opinion was that there should be a wider exchange of visits.
