WOOLWORTH'S (N.Z.) LTD.
OPENING IN NOVEMBER,
Mr. Hugh R. Hallard, resident managing director of Woolworth's (N.Z.) Ltd., is visiting Auckland in connection with the opening of the Auckland branch in Queen Street (late Everybody's Theatre) in November. The first New Zealand branch of this company was opened in Wellington on October 4, and the establishment has been visited by crowds. The Auckland branch, which will be laid out in a style new to the city, will have a staff of 120. The share capital of the company is entirely held by New Zealanders and Australians, but for purposes of mass buying the company is allied with Woolworth's Ltd., Australia. The London buying office is Woolworth's (Australasia) Ltd. Woolworth's policy is to buy from local manufacturers rather than from overseas when quality is equal.
