COUNTRY INUNDATED. Hawkesbury River Breaks Its Banks. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Keceived 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Rain lias fallen almost continuously along the coast for the past 50 hours. Rivers are rising everywhere and there is grave danger of flooding. All the flats along the Hunter River, above Newcastle, are under water. The township of Wallsend is threatened and portions of Windsor are endangered. Over 10,000 acres of flat near Windsor have been covered by flood waters as the result.of the Hawkesbury River breaking its banks. Damage to the crops is very heavy-and many homes are threatened. Stock has been removed to higher levels. The river is 20ft above summer-level and is still rising. Roads are blocked, the bridges being under water. . The State.Meteorologist says'that floods are likely in all coastal rivers as further heavy falls of rain are expected.
