RENTS IN DUNEDIN.

Interesting figures concerning the rentals charged in Dunedin for house 3 of various sizes were given in the Arbitration Court by Mr. Robinson, representing the metal workers' assistants in a dispute. He said he had obtained figures from two firms of land agents in Dunedin, and one return showed that the rents from 32 houses amounted to £43 13/, or. an average weekly rental of £1 7/3 J. The other return he had received showed that 34 four-roomed houses were let at the average rental of £1 1/, and 45 five-roomed houses were let at the average rental of £1 10/.. The statements of the two firms, eaid Mr. Robinson, showed that dwellings could not be procured in Dunedin at anything like the amount allotted for rent in the basic wage.
