AMERICANISATION OF GERMANY.
A symposium, conducted, by Berlin newspapers indicates that Ainerieanisation, which already has made great strides in Germany, is welcomed as the only possible salvation of the country. Several prominent persons have pointed out that it is better to go the rest of the way, since the Amerieanisation no far adopted consists in imitation of the eurface aspects of American life, noise, jazz and activity. These observers poiiit out that there are ideals and practical suggestions also to be obtained from a study of American ways'. Even in the matter of commercial aviation, in which Germany was established before America awoke to its possibilities, American ways are considered beet. Herr Merkel, director of the Lufthansa, said recentlythat the freedom -enjoyed by America in the matter of interior customs dntie's must' be imitated in Europe by the establishment of free airports in Berlin, London and Paris. An attempt at Americanisatiou may v really be represented by the International Advertising Exhibition, which will be held in Berlin in August and September. Advertising methods from all parts of the world will be represented, but the greatest emphasis is being placed upon forms of advertising which have reached their greatest development in the United States.
