OBITUARY.
MR. GEORGE MALAM. The death took place on October 10 in a private hospital of Mr. George Ma-lam, at the age of 52 years. Mr. Malam learned stereotyping at the "New Zealand Herald," and then went to the "Taranaki Herald" for several years. He was a member of the New Plymouth Volunteer Fire Brigade, and was keenly interested in coursing. He was on service during the war and was gassed in France. Returning to New Plymouth, Mr. Malam a few years later came to live in Auckland. His death followed on a severe attack of pneumonia. He is survived by the following children:— Messrs. C. G. and R. J. Malam, and Mrs. J. Garrett, of New Lynn. MR. C E. LTJXFOPvD. A very old resident of Wellington, Mr. Charles' Edward Luxford, died on October 9. He was a son of Mr. Charles Luxford, who 'arrived at Wellington in 1840 by the ship Adelaide. Mr. C. E. Luxford joined the staff of Te Aro House when it was founded by Mr. James Smith, but in ISS9 started in business on his own account at Newtown. He was a member of the school committee at Newtown for many years, and was also a prominent worker of the Trinity Methodist Church. He quite recently resigned the office of steward after 41 years service in that position. Deceased was a brother of the late Rev. J. A. Luxford, Methodist minister, at one time stationed in Auckland, and who afterwards did good service as a chaplain at the war.
