LOCAL BODIES.
OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL. The Otahuhu Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. T. Clements, presiding. Urban Farm Lands. —The council agreed to support the Urban Farm Land Bill now before Parliament. Fire Brigade.—The local fire brigade accepted the council'e offer of £30 per year for fire fighting expenses, provided the council made up any deficiency incurred and the brigade refunded any surplus. The council committee is to confer with the brigade. Refuse Collection.—The District Traffic Manager, in a letter regarding refuse collection from 33 tenante of the railway settlement, wished .the council to collect the fees. The council refused to accept thie responsibility. Street Collections.—lt wae decided to inform the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary that they be alloted one day a year for a street collection. Library.—Owing to the unfina.ncial position of the Otahuhu Library a committee set up to investigate matters, recommended that £5 be advanced ae the nucleuß of a fund to carry on till next March. The council resolved to inform the library committee that the council had no funds available for the purpose. Borough Balances. — The borough balances to date are: District fund account, debit £13,220 0/7; cemetery, credit £241 19/10; park, credit, £14 10/10; domain, credit £4 9/11; septic tank loan, credit £37 15/10; water and streets loan, credit £32 15/11; drainage loan, credit £500 19/4. Heavy Traffic Fees.— The traffic inspector reported that since September 1 heavy ■traffic fees amounted to £408 18/.
