Two greatest bell-ringing achievements were peals rung at Appleton in 1922, and at Loughborough in 1909. At Appleton 21,363 changes were rung on ten bells in 12 hours 25 minutes, involving the ringing of 213,630 notes without a mistake. Each ringer sounded his bell 21,363 times, and a total weight of 65,000 tons was displaced. During the Loughborough pea], 18,027 changes were rung on ten bells in 12 hours 18 minutes; 180,270 notes were sounded:properly and each man rang his bell 18,027 times. The 1 bells were heavier, and a total weight of . 135,000 tons was displaced.
