Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report:—To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market ox beef came forward in larger numbers than last week, and, taken throughout, the quality was good. Last week's values again ruled for all light and medium-weight cattle, but many sorts were inclined to be a trifle easier. Cow and heifer, beef also came forward in .smaller numbers, for which last week's values ruled. Extra choice ox sold to 44/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 41/ to 43/; secondary and plain ox, 38/ to 40/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 39/ to 41/; ordinary cow beef, 36/ to 38/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £17 to £17 17/6; heavy prime steers, £16 7/6; lighter prime steers, £14 to £15 10/; light prime steers, £13 to £14; small and unfinished steers, £11 to £12 10/. Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report:—To-day at our Westfield fat stock market our beef pens contained 308 head, comprising 218 steers and 90 cows and heifers, as against 3V> head at last Wednesday's market. The quality was equal to that at recent sales, and there was a steady demand throughout. Heavy cattle were slightly easier, but other classes remained unchanged.
