Southern D.C.C. in Auckland. Deputy Camp Chief Frank Ohls (Imperial warrant), who; is one of the D.S.M.'s of the Christehurch district, is at present in Auckland. . He is accompanied by his wife, with whom he is taking an extended holiday arid health tour.
Before- he leaves Auckland on Friday Mr. Olds hopes to see something of Auckland Scouters, and,it is hoped that he may be abl" to visit the Scouters' training' course, which meets in the Rover den on Thursday night at 7.30. Michael wishes Mr. and Mrs. Olds good trailing and hopes that their trails will lead to good health. * * *. ~..* The "Glee" Scouts. Auckland said farewell to the Scouts of the Westminster Glee Singers on Mondav last. They will be in Auckland again for a couple of days in .December, when the manager of the party is willing for -some Scout" function to be arranged. This will no doubt be taken in hand in the proper quarter.
Scouters' Training Course. D.S.M. G. C. Iversen writes saying that he hopes there will be a good attendance at the second meeting of the Scouters' training course, which will be held in the Rovers' den (rooms 12 and 13, Grey's Buildings, Courthouse Lane), on Thursday at 7.30 p.m. "The chaps we want," says Mr. Iversen, "are the Scouts recently prompted to warranted .auk, but I do not want to overlook the old hands, who no doubt will be able to pick up new ideas; many new ideas and stunts will" be tried out.for the first time in this course." It is hoped that Deputy Camp Chief Frank Olds, D.S.M. for Christehurch, will pay a visit during the evening. • « • • Auckland Rovers. The usual weekly meeting of the j Central Crew was held on Monday last. Patrol' instruction for the Rover test was given by the mates. This occupied the first part of the evening, and was followed by the second talk on hygiene by the D.R.S.L. This was most interesting and highly instructive, and the absentees missed a really good yarn, the burden of which was to show how incorrect or strained stance affected the spinal column and the other bony struc-. ture of the body, thus causing illnesses and bodily derangements; corrective exercises of a simple nature would prevent at least 95 per cent of the bodily ills which are the direct result of congestion of the bodily organs and their functions. These yarns will be continued weekly until the full syllabus is covered. . . . # • •*■ * * The Boxing. ■ '..•••: Any Hovers, Scouters or Senior Scouts, who are free on the afternoon of Thursday, October 10, are asked to help the Legion of Frontiersmen prepare the Society of Arte Hall for the tourney which will be held in the evening. Arrangements are* now well in hand and the ■ evening promises to be a great success. The Artillery Band will be in attendance and will play selections during the evening. Parents and supporters of the movement are given a cordial invitation to be present. Scouts in uniform, or displaying the Scout badge, will also be admitted free. * * ■ '. * * Vindictive Sea Scouts. All hands are requested to parade next Friday as Mr. Harrison will pay another visit. On Sunday a church parade was held at Takapuna when Mr. Bigwood was in charge.
