WELCOME TENNIS CLUB.
The Welcome Tennis Club annual dinner, distribution of prizes and dance was held at the Penrith Booms on Saturday evening, when the Welcome Club's orchestra provided suitable music. Mr. Warwick Wilson, the president, presented the prizes. Owing to the absence of Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. D. Stewart acted as hostess. The ladies' championship was won by Miss Moran; runner-up, Miss Goldsworthy; ladies' doubles, Miss Moran and Mrs. Bell; combined doubles, Mr. and Mrs. D. Allen; handicap tournament—Ladies' singles, Mrs. Allen; runner-up, Mrs. D. Stewart; ladies' doubles, Mrs. Allen, Miss Moran; run-ners-up, Mrs. D. Stewart and Miss K. Gay; mixed doubles, Miss K. Gay and Mr. R. Gay, runners-up, Miss Moran and Mr.' Buck men's singles, Mr. D. Allen and runner-up, Mr. Gotobed; doubles, Messrs. Allen and Gotobed; handicap, Mr. Gotobed, Mr. B. Gay; men's doubles, Messrs. G. Pilgrim and R. Gay. The committee were: Mrs. D. Stewart, who wore a tulle frilled skirt with blue and silver lame bodice; Mrs. G. Miller, black and pink crepe fleuri; Mrs. Mickclborough, bois de rose rayon silk; Miss I. Smith, black velvet and frilled taffeta; Miss Eileen Gay, cherry georgette and gold lace. Among the guests were: Mrs. Kealey, pink ninon and silver lame; Mrs. Ruck, black lace and ninon; Mrs. Bell, black lace and georgette; Mrs. Bruce, red lace frock; Mrs. Parker, figured rayon silk; Mrs. Emery, Oriental satin and velvet; Mrs. Scott, mauve georgette; Mrs. A. Kelly, black net and gold sequins; Mrs. Gay black silk marocain and silver; Mrs.. Du Plasterier, black georgette embroidered in beige and green; Mrs. Bridgens, old gold crepe de chine; Miss Studman, green crepe fleuri; Miss N. Freeborn, black picture frock of taffeta; Miss K. Gay, apricot georgette and blue hip bow; Miss E. Freeborn, black beaded georgette; Miss Morris, pale blue crepe de chine; Miss 0. Smith, embossed georgette and sequins: Mis? May, floral chiffon; Miss M. Hancock, powder blue crepe do chine. A presentation of a gold wristlet watch and an illuminated address was made during the evening to Mrs. A. Miller, secretary of the club for the past three years. Mr. Warwick Wilson, the club's president, complimented Mrs. Miller on her capable work as secretary.
