THE PRINCESS ROYAL.

Seized During Residence At Braemar.

(Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, September 30. The Princess Royal, the King's eldest sister, has been taken ill at Mar Lodge, Braemar. It is stated her illness began with a chill. She was born in 1867 and married at the age of 22 the Earl of Fife. Her love match with the' Earl, who was not of Royal blood, appealed strongly to the public. The Earl was created Duke of Fife at the wedding breakfast. The Princess, with the Duke and their two daughters, had a narrow escape from death in 1907 when the liner Delhi, in which they were travelling for the opening of the Khartoum Cathedral, was wrecked off Tangier. They were all thrown into the sea when their lifeboat collapsed, but were rescued by sailors. The Duke died in Egypt a month after the wreck. The Princess' elder daughter, who married Prince Arthur of Connaught, is at present staying at Mai , Ledge. Her younger daughter is Lady Maud Carnegie.

Princess Royal's Heart Causes Anxiety.

(Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. A bulletin from Mar Lodge, Braemar. states that the Princess Royal, the King's sister, had a slight gastric hemorrhage yesterday. She passed a restful night but the condition of her heart causes some anxiety.
