SHIPPING NEWS.

PASSENGER STEAMERS ARRIVE

TOFUA DELAYED. Two overseas passenger steamers, the Tofua from Suva and the Ulimaroa from Sydney, berthed at Auckland this morning. Adverse weather delayed the Tofua and she arrived last night too late to be cleared, and therefore remained in the stream until this morning. The Ulimaroa experienced moderate weather in the Tasraan Sea and arrived to time. The only other overseas vessel which arrived at Auckkland this morning was the tanker Ranella from Borneo. Tomorrow the Canadian Challenger is due from the South for final loading for New York, Boston and Montreal, while expected arrivals on Thursday include the Piako from Liverpool and the tanker Plume from San Francisco.

Dunedin, for Akaroa, 11.50 a.m. The waterside workers held their monthly stop work meeting this morning and cargo work did not commence until 10 a.m. The Richardson steamer Awahou is to.sail for East Coast bays and Gisborne at 5 p.m. to-day. For final loading for New York, Boston and Montreal, the Canadian National steamer Canadian Challenger left Wellington yesterday afternoon for Auckland, where she is due to-morrow. She is to sail for New York on Thursday. TTLIMAROA ARRIVED. With passengers, mails and cargo from Sydney, the Huddart Parker steamer Ulimaroa arrived at Auckland this morning and berthed at the Queen'* wharf. Moderate southerly weather prevailed on the voyage. The Ulimaroa Is announced to sail again for Sydney at 11 a.m. next Friday. PLUME "WITH MOTOR SPIRIT. According to her wireless report, the Vacuum Oil Co.'s tanker Plume, with bulk motor spirit from San Francisco, will arrive at Auckland at daybreak next Thursday. She will discharge here and at Wellington, Lyttelton and Dnnedln. Local cargo will be pumped out at the Western wharf. TOFCA IN PORT. Arriving at Auckland from Suva last night, the Union Co.'s steamer 'Xofua. anclwred In the stream until this morning, when she berthed at the Prince's wharf to land her passengers, mails ancl cargo from Fiji, Tonga and Same-a. Two days after leaving Suva, the Tofua encountered strong south-westerly gales ami rough seas, which delayed her arrival by about twelve hours. She is to sail again for the Islands at 11 a.m. on Saturday. RANELLA FROM BORNEO. An arrival at Auckland this morning was the Shell Co.'s tanker Ranella (Capf. A. Harrison) with a cargo of bulk fuel oil from Tarakan, Borneo. She left Tarakan on September 11, and experienced fine weather until she entered the Tasman Sea, when strong southerly and southeasterly winds were encountered.. The Eanella is discharging the local portion of her cargo at tile Western wharf and is to sail for Wellington to-morrow morning. NORTHERN COMPANY'S MOVEMENTS. Projected Departures. The Waimea is to sail at 4 p.m. to-day for Gisborne ana Napier. The Kartigi expects to arrive afc 9 p.uv. to-day from Gre.vmouth. and after discharge at the Western wharf will lay up for overhaul. The Kairanga is to sail for Gladstone at 5 p.m. to-morrow. The Katoa left Westport for Auckland at 8.30 a.m. to-day. The Wingatui left Wellington last night, and is due at Auckland on Thursday morning. After discharge here she is to go to Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Oamaru and Tiniaru. The Kaiapoi sailed this morning for Portland, and returns on Thursday to fill up for Lyttelton. She is announced to load for Auckland at Greymoutk early next week. The Kurow left Bluff at midnight last night for Dunedin, Timaru, Lyttelton Wellington and Auckland. She • was due at Dunedin at 2 p.m. to-day, and is expected to clear there to-morrow afternoon.

GOLDEN WEST" COMING. Scheduled to clear Los Angeles to-day, the O. and O. Line;steamer Golden West is due at Auckland on -October 27. Her other ports of discharge are Wellington and Lyttelton. THE CANADIAN CRUISER. Iα continuation of lier voyage from Montreal, the Canadian National steamer Canadian Cruiser, is to safl at 5 p.m. today for Wellington, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. THE PORT HARDY. Cabled advice from Liverpool states that the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Hardy was dispatched from Liverpool last Saturday with general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunodin, She is due at Auckland on November 5. DUNKDIN SAILED. H.M.S; Dtinedin sailed this morning for the Hauraki Gulf for exercises. She will be joined there to-morrow by H.M.s. Diomede. Both vessels will carry out manoeuvres in tue guif, and then separate, the Dioniede sailing for England and the Dunedin for southern ports. PIAKO'S BERTH. A berth at the Central Wharf has been allotted to the New Zealand Shipping Co.'s steamer Piako. which is due at Auckland at noon on Thursday with general cargo from Glasgow and Liverpool. Her other ports of discharge are Wellington, Lytteltou, Dunedin and Bluff. KARAMEA DELAYED. Wet weather has delayed the loading of the Shaw, Savill and Albion motor ship, Karamea at Wellington, and she is not now expected to leave there for Auckland, her final loading port, until 5 p.m. to-morrow. She is due here next Friday, and sails for London at daybreak next Tuesday. L. D. Nathan, Ltd., are the local agents. PACIFIC COAST CARGOES. The Waikawa is to leave Auckland to-mor-row for Wellington, Melbourne and. Sydney, to complete unloading cargo from Pacific Coast ports, From Sydney she is to return, to Vancouver direct. The Waihemo, with cargo from Pacific Coast ports, leit San Francisco for Wellington, Nelson, Melbourne and Sydney last Friday. She is due at Wellington on October 22. Now loading at Pacific coast ports, the Waitemata is to clear Los Angeles for Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Nelson and New Plymouth next Saturday. She is due at Napier on October 31. The Hauraki was scheduled to leave Vancouver yesterday foi' other Pacific Coast ports to continue loading for Auckland. Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. She is To clear Los Ang-eles on October 20, and is due at Auckland on November 10. The Waiotapu is to leave Suva for Fanning Island- and Vancouver next Friday. She is to load at Vancouver towards the end of October and afterwards at other ports on the Pacific Coast for discharge at Papeete, Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. Now completing discharge at Wellington, the Wainina will return direct to Pacific Coast ports to load for Lyttelton, Dunedin, New Plymouth, Napier, and also possibly Auckland.
