ADDINGTON NOTES.

VESUVIUS RECOVERED FROM INJURY. V. ALBORN'S TEAM. ELZEAR TROTTING WELL. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. J. N. Clarke's trotter Spencer, by lomeleigh Dick froni Olive L., continues ,o please by the manner in which he gets hrough liis training work at New Brighton. He should race well the first :ime he is started. Vesuvius, who won the mile and aruartcr at the last meeting at Adding•on, continues to go on the right way in ais work, and he seems to have quite recovered from the injury to his foot which caused him to show indifferent form' at the August meeting. He does most of his training work with his stable companion Linkman, who is in the Cup, and in this pair of pacers the West Coast owner, V. Alborn. has horses who should do him good service this season. Vesuvius has not always raced too solidly over two miles, showing an inclination to mix his gait at critical moments, but he is gradually getting out of this fault and should settle down to solid racing with age. Elzear is trotting in great style in her training work, and, although she is on a tight mark, should win races tliis season. She is usually worked with the pacers and never looks like making any mistakes in her work. Torchlight is doing plenty of useful work at New Brighton under J. D. Smith's charge. He is a useful pacer, and like most of the progeny of Matchlight is a capital stayer. The trotter Duco is a regular attendant at Addington, and although he shows a crood deal of speed in training, he fails to reproduce it with the colours up. He mav do better after some more .racing. Bramdean looked very sore when he raced at New Brighton earlv in the month, and he has not been on the training track since then. He went wronq some time ago, and after receiving attention was doing good work in training but has evidently failed to stand up te it. Bramdean. who is by Nelson Bingcn from Bidens. was a very promising youm trotter, and it is to be hoped that he wil soon be racing again.
