LAWN TENNIS.

HAMILTON EAST CLUB. HAMILTON, Friday. At the annual meeting of the Hamilton East Tennis Club the president, Mr. W. Bourne, said the season bad .been a successful one. There had been an increase in membership: and competitions had been keenly contested. A small credit balance had resulted from the year's operations. The tarring of the courts at a cost of £75 had given, members an improved playing The opening day -was fixed for October i>. The election of officers resulted:—President Mr. W. Bourne; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. R. Baker, A. Larimer and K. Cobbe; committee., Mrs. Knapp, Mrs. Cole, Misses Butler, Jane and Saunders, Messrs. Boyd, Lash, Bourne, J. Handley and Carthy ; club captain, Mr. Boyd; sub-association 'delegates, Messrs. Knapp and Boyd; selection committee, Mrs. Knapp; Messrs. Knapp and Boyd. EDENDALE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Edendale Tennis Club was held in. the Grafton Library Hall, the president, Mr. Raymond Ferner, presiding over an excellent attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet showed the club to be in a good financial position. The secretary reported that the work of converting the surface of the courts from grass to chip was proceeding satisfactorily, and that the courts will he ready for the official opening on Saturday, October 12. With the improved facilities for play now available the club is in a position to invite applications for new members. The election of officers resulted : • President Mr. Raymond Ferner ; vice-presidents, Mrs Worrall, Hon; George Fowlds, Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, M.P., Mr. L. J. Rhodes, and Mr. Charles Tare; club captain. Mr. S Bailey; selector, Mr. P. M. Hobson; secretary and treasurer, Miss 11. Scruby; "eneral management committee, Mrs. Hobson, Miss Page, Messrs. Skipper, Watkin, Darrach and Barnett.
