J. ) Nightingale, were farewelled by the > members of the hotel staff at an inr formal function last evening, when they were presented with a solid silver tea 2 ..service. ' Mr., and Mrs. Nightingale are 1 relinquishing control of the Star Hotel ■f after a period of over six years.. Patrons, of the Star Hotel met this 1 afternoon to farewell the proprietor, Mr. t R. J. JTightingale, .and Mrs. Nightingale, 2 who are leaving Auckland shortly. A t presentation of a pair of gold earrings i. set wjth rubies to Mrs. Nightingale and e a. leather suitcase and a travelling rug to Mr. Nightingale \\;is mnde by Mr. W. Blomriekl. 'Mr. and Mr.*. Nightingale have no definite plans for the lv future, but after a holiday through the h Dominion they intend to settle down in bu>ine?«.
