NEW CARGO STEAMERS.

KATMIRO AND KAREPO. SMART WORK BY BUILDERS. Of the two new cargo steamers being built for the Union Steamship Company, the contractors, Messrs. Cammell, Laird and Company, of Birkenhead, will deliver one of them next month, and the other very soon .after. One is named Kaimiro and the other Karepo. They are each vessels of about 3500 tons dead weight, with a speed of 10J to 11 knots, designed primarily to meet the conditions of the coal trade of the West' Coast 'of the South Jsland, but will be useful for other cargo work on the New Zealand coast and in the intercolonial trade.
