DOROTHY M.

FISHING BOAT LAUNCHED. NEW SEINE NETTTB. SPACE FOR FORTY TONS. Gracefully as a yacht, the new 50ft seine net boat Dorothy M was launched from the slip at Mr. Chas. Bailey's yard this morning. , ' . , . . •Little Miss Dorothy Munro, after whom the vessel is named, broke the traditional bottle of champagne across the stem, and the vessel slid' into the sea without a hitch. The new launch is considerably larger than most of those engaged in seiiae netting. She is 50 feet long, Avith a beam of 14 feet and draught of five feet. Her hull is built on the diagonal system, with three skins of kauri planking. The crew's quarters are in the fo'c'sle, while amidships, there is a large hold, insulated with cork, and capable of taking 40 tons of fish. A patent winch and coilcr for hauling in ' the net stands immediately abaft the hatch. The wheelhouse is situated well aft, just over the engine room. The power unit is a 54 h.p. four-cylinder Gardner crude oil engine, which is expected to give the vessel a speed of nine knots. The engine is controlled from the wheelhouse. Immediately after launching, the' Dorothy M went for a trial run up the harbour, and gave every satisfaction. Her owner, Mr. Jack Munro, intends to make Auckland her home port, but with her size and build, she will probably go further afield than most of tho seine netters. , j
