POTATOES STILL CHANGEABLE. i (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) 1 CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The potato market continues to fluctuate. Early in the week the price for September deliveries was up to £7 17/6. It receded to £7 5/, but on Wednesday night had risen to £8. To-day it is back to ' £7 10/. October deliveries moved in sympathy, but not to the same extent. They had reached £9, there being a sale or two over that figure, and to-day they are quoted at £8 15/. The stocks going North are small, the Waipiata taking only 400 bags from Lyttelton, in addition to 1200 , from Timaru. The Wingatui sails about next Thursday, and so far she will be the final boat this month. There was an expectation of an inquiry from Otago to replace potatoes sold to Auckland during the period of high prices, but so far it has not materialised. Inquiry from coastal districts in the North Island is also restricted. a No other line of produce is attracting much interest except wheat, consequent on the wheat pool's decision to export a quantity of the surplus. The pool price p is 6/5 f.o.b. for Tuscan. A grade Garton oats are quoted at 3/9 E to 3/10, and B grade at 3/8, but the market is quiet. 'L' Seeds are being distributed in farmers' P lots, and the prices are unchanged. A Ihe market for peas shows no improvement, Home inquiry being absent. The nominal value is 5/ to 5/2, f.0.b., s.i., or about 4/4 on trucks. ' B Chaff is worth £6 10/ a con, f.0.b., s.i. c —
