Detectives yesterday arrested a man in connection with the robbery at Rozelle on September 14 when a constable was shot. During a chase the robber dropped a spectacle ease and this led to his arrest. The case bore, embossed, the name of a New Zealand maker, and a cable was sent to New Zealand police asking them to interview the optician who supplied the glasses in an effort to ascertain the owner.

The return cable gave the name of a man who had served a sentence in New Zealand. He is an Australian with a record here. The bandit made two abortive attempts, but at Rozelle he held up the proprietor of a store and decampcd with £20. The desperado was chased by the police, and a revolver duel ensued in which twelve shots were fired. Constable Grinham was shot in the groin and taken to hospital.
