LESLIE V. H. LECKIE. BOUT FOR LIGHT-WEIGHT TITLE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ; ASHBURTON, Thursday. The New Zealand Boxing Council lias ginrited the Ashburton Association's application that the bout between G. Leslie, of Auckland, and H. Leckie, of Dunedin, on October 6, be for the ' light-weight professional title now vacant.TE AWAMUTU TOURNAMENT. (By Telegraph,.—Own ■ Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, Thursday. The Te Awamutu Young Men's Institute is well known, all over the Auckland province for its high standard of amateur boxing tournaments, and the one to be held on September 30 should be no exception. The following bouts have been arranged:—A. Craig' (Te Awamutu) v. Thomas (Wellington), Thompson (Auckland) v. Connors (Wellington),-C. McKnight (Auckland) v. Smith (Taumarunui), C. Haddon (Taumarunui) v. Ross (Onehuuga), Bruno (Auckland) v. J. Purdie (Auckland), Neal (Auckland) v. Mullins (Te Kuiti), J. Horan (Te Awamutu) v. Ross (Frankton), J. Roper (Taumarunui) v. Campbell r (Okoroire), Bennett (Papatoetoe) v. Fox (Frankton). It will be recalled that A. Craig and Thomas met in the serni-final of the lightweight division at Greymouth, where Thomas gained an unpopular decision. The institute has gone to big expense to give Craig an opportunity to prove the decision was wrong, and Roper and Campbell will fight for the Muir Cup, which is at present held by Clarrie Craig, of Te Awamutu, who has decided to have a lengthy spell.
