BUS REGULATIONS.
BREACHES SBY COMPANY. PENALTIES IMPOSED. . A number of eases were brought before Mr. E. 'CrCutten'.SJM.,. to-day,' at the Magistrate's Court. Action was taken by Inspector Foster, of the Transport Board (Mr. Mackay) against the Auckland Bus Co. (Mr. Bryce Hart) for breaches of the bus regulations. The charges were that an emergency door in one bus was not in order, there: was no sign on .another, no independent brake on another, no fire extinguisher *6n another, insufficient jacks on three buses,'.and no license for wo. Mr. Hart said the service was taken over by his .client from the board, and the vehicles were run with the plant on them. All the buses were now in proper order. • Mr.,E. C. Cutten, SIM., fine of, 10/ and costs iu the two cases where unlicensed buses had been used, and in all the other breaches made an order for payment of costs. ; "The.Devonport Borough Council (Mr. Watson) brought nine cases against various drivers for carrying on an unlicensed motor omnibus' service. •Mr. Vialoux, for' defendant's, said in one' case ■■'.& -test had been taken at the Supreme Court and his :Honor Sir Alexander Herdman had decided that under the circumstances, as set forth, it was an unlicensed service. ?Mr. Vialoux said he asked, in view of the cost entailed in taking the? test case; in the present in stance only costs should be asked for. Mr. Cutten agreed.
