ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

SATURDAY'S ARRANGEMENTS.

PENDING CUP TIE FIXTURES

CHATHAM CUP PEOTEST FIASCO.

The control board of the Auckland Football Association mot last night, Mr. Andrew Menzies presiding. Arrangements for Saturday's games and for the playing off of the cup tio games still pending were discussed on the recommendation of the Grounds Committee. It was pointed out that with the games still to be played the season should finish with the Falcon Cup final on October 12. In view of the draw last Saturday in the Falcon Cup between Bon Accord and Shore it was agred to make- the replay on Saturday the cur-tain-raiser to the Xavy match on Blandford Park. In regard to the rep. game with the Navy it was reported that the latter desired to meet Auckland's strongest team and not a more or less reserve team. It was pointed out that the conditions since last week had completely changed and that Mr. Xeesham had selected a very strong and thoroughly representative eleven to meet the Navy. The board decided to get in touch with the Xavy officials and explain that the team chosen was considered to be quite up to the Auckland standard. Failing agreement it was decided to match the squadron team against the Tramways, the Xew Zealand champion eleven. The suggestion to proceed with the Thistle Cup was adopted and Celtic and Manurewa will meet on Saturday at the Domain, the winner to play Bon Accord on Blandford Park next Wednesday evening.

The Wellington Association wrote in connection with the F.A. Trophy challenge match on Saturday week. It was stated that the eleven chosen was considered to be the strongest that had represented the association for many seasons and all the players would be able to make the journey north. The New Zealand Council wrote in connection with the Wellington Y.M.C.A. protest against Christie, of Auckland Tramways, in the Chatham Cup North Island final. It was stated that the Council had been unable to trace the source of the Y.M.C.A. information, but the governing body had made exhaustive inquiries, and communication had been made with the Scottish Football Associa. tion. That body had'replied that there was no trace of Christie boing a suspended player under any Scottish association. The Y.M.C.A. protest had accordingly been dismissed and the deposit forfeited. The board decided to hold a speciul freneral meeting of the- association on September 29 to consider important proposed alterations to the rules of the code. Permission was given Rangers to play a team from the Northumberland on the Domain on Saturday. Soccer Old Boys. It was announced that the first general meeting of the Soccer Old Boys' Association (Auckland) would .be held tomorrow (Thursday) evening, when the constitution and rules of the new body will be the principal business. It is also proposed to hold an inaugural social reunion, and the question of the date of the function will be discussed. A large attendance of Soccer enthusiasts is looked for. Referees' Association. There was a fair attendance of referees at the weekly meeting last night, Mr. J. J. Wright presiding. It was announced that theoretical passes in the New Zealand badge holders' examination had been attained by the following:—Messrs. Mardle, Woods, Alp, Blacktop, Perris, Kyle, Caton, Walker.

A suggestion that Mr. A. Kyle be appointed to the representative game, Auckland v. Royal Navy, was adopted by the appointments board.
