"BASELESS ACTIVITIES,"

ATTACK ON WHITE LEAGUE. INDIAN ASSOCIATION PROTEST. "To preach the doctrine of racial discrimination in the twentieth century is to give proof of ignorance and an utter lack of civilisation." In this vigorous manner, the New Zealand Indian Central Association at a recent meeting in Wellington protested against resolutions passed by the White New Zealand League at' its annual meeting at Pukekoho some time back.

Resolutions carried by the association read as follows: "(1) This association is very annoyed at reading some of the objectional resolutions of the White New Zealand League passed at its annual meeting at Pukekohe, and, in our opinion, the best interests of New Zealand will bo served by promoting a better understanding between the races, and co-operating in the matter of making New Zealand a prosperous country. Judging by its merits, the association believes the baseless activities of the White League will die a natural death"; and "(2) The New Zealand Indian Central Association deems it necessary to point out to the public in general, and the responsible man in particular, the fact that India paid its contribution to the Great War more than any of the Dominions in respect to money and men. The fact is not to be overlooked that Indians are British subjects and deserve all British justice. The association therefore appeals to the peaceful and sound-thinking New Zealander not to be hindered or misled by any of the basemindedness of the White New Zealand League."
