Mr. C. B. Norwood, formerly Mayor of Wellington, is in Auckland, staying at the Grand Hotel.
The Rev. C. F. Pierce, headmaster of the Wanganui Collegiate School, is in Auckland, staying at the Grand Hotel.
. Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P. for Palmerston, left by train for Wellington last evening. He was accompanied by Mrs. Nash. Hotel Cargen guests include Mr. V. Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Gardiner (Wellington), Mr. W. M. Tangyne (Piako).
Mr. J. B. Wainscot, a member of the Government dairy produce grading staff } has been transferred to Napier to take charge of the grading operations there.
Mr. 11. C. Murray (Wellington), Mr. W. Tyam (New Plymouth), Mr. J. A, Teck (Sydney), are at the Grand Hotel.
Dr. George H. Uttley, principal of the Wairarapa High School, has been appointed rector of the Southland Boys' High School, according to a Press Association message from Invercargill. He will commence his duties in February.
Arrivals at the Central Hotel are Mr. R K.' Huggins (Sydney), Mr. and Mrs, W. Wright (Tasmania), Mr. R. Cobbe (Hamilton), Mr. T. Reynolds, Mr. F. W. Geddis (Wellington), Mr. D. W. McKay (Invercargill).
Among the guests at the Royal Hotel are Mr. W. Stanley Cato (Te Kuiti), Mr. M. Oldbury (Kawhia), Mr. E. Twohill, Mr. and Mrs. D. Twohill (Thames), Mr. A. B. McDonald (Hauraki Plains), Mr. D. Stewart (Dunedin), Mr. F. H. Wilkinson (Gisborne).
The Rev. K. A. Karaka, who has been Maori mission priest at Morrinsville for the past twenty years, has been appointed a canon of St. Peter's Cathedral, Hamilton, •in place of the Rev. E. S. Wayne, of Waihi, who resigned the post at the last Diocesan Synod.
