STEAM-PIPE BURSTS.

FIREMAN SEVERELY SCALDED ACCIDENT AT WESTFIELD. As the result of the bursting of the steam-pipe in the cab of the engine yesterday, on the Westfield deviation, Mr. Cyril Hobbs, a locomotive fireman in the Public Work Department, was severely injured. The steam burst up through the cab and Mr. Hobbs was scalded on the head, chest and back. He was taken to the hospital by the hospital ambulance, and to-day his condition is reported to be very serious. Mr. Hobbs, who is single, lives at the Public Works camp, and his parents at the Tawa Flat railway deviation works, Wellington.
