AN ISLAND TOUR.
t A TRIP FOR M.P'S. SUGGESTION BY MR. HARRIS. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.} WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A suggestion by Mr. A. Harris, Reform member for Waitemata, that provision should be made for a trip to the Cook Islands by members of Parliament, was not received very cordially by the Native Minister (Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata) in the House of Representatives to-day. There were immense possibilities in the Cook Islands, said Mr. Harris, and he believed there was an obligation on the Government to make it possible for members to see the islands during the recess. If the results were as good as the trip to Samoa some years ago, such a visit to the Cook Islands would be well -worth while.
"I hare my own view a3 to whether it is a good thing for Parliament to go down to the Islands," replied the Native Minister (Sir Apirana Ngata). "1 think some of the trouble in Samoa was due to a Parliamentary tour, but that, of course, is only my opinion."
Mr. Harris: We would settle it now in one trip, without any difficulty. (Laughter.)
