NEW BUS SERVICE.
HILLSBORO' AND WAIKOWHAI
APPLICATION TO ROAD BOARD.
Mr. M. W. Karews asked the Mount Roskill Road Board last night to support his application to the Auckland Transport Board for a license to run a new bus servico on the Buckland Road route to cover Hillsboro' and Waikowhai areas in the Mount Roskill district. Mr. Karews attended the meeting, and informed the board that he could find as many buses as might be required, with satisfactory financial backing. Mr. Tansley asked if tho board had any right to support the application without first consulting the Transport Board. He did not think they should do so without further information. He would not do so.
Mr. S. I. Goodall said he would like to know the attitude of the Transport Board. In reply to this query Mr. Karews said the Transport Board had promised him to communicate with the local bodies to ascertain their views.
Mr. E. A. Pearce said he would certainly welcome the new service if it came up to the requirements of the district. The chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones, also supported the application and moved to that effect. The resolution was supported by Mr. S. Scarbrougli, and carried by 8 to 1.
