STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

SEASON'S FIXTURES. (By WHALEBONE.) Sept. 7—Otago Hunt CJub. Sept. 12, 14—Wunganui J.C. Sept. 21— Asuburton; County R.C. Sept. 21—Napier Par* B.C. Sept. 21, 23—Avondale J.C. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. i WAGER.—Prince Humphrey ran second to Aussie in the All-Aged Stakes run on the Avondale course in April, 1928. The name Dusky Maid claimed for the two-year-old lilly by Romeo from Lady Kerman has been disallowed and she will now be known as Lady Court. Locarno, who broke down when racing over hurdles at the Grand National meeting, is reported to be in a bad way. He is suffering from a badly wrenched joint and there are doubts about him ever racing again. Red Fuchsia, who won the Sydenham Hurdles on the concluding day of the Grand National meeting, will contest the Hack Steeplechase on the second clay at Marton. A. McDonald will fide the All Red gelding in the cross-country event referred to. Democratic, who was equal to winning two events at the Taranaki Hunt Club meeting last week, is regarded as a promising hurdler of whom better results can be expected in the future. He was bred by Mr. T.. B. Stewart, of Mount Albeit, who disposed of him to the Southern owner, Mr. W. H. Gaisford, a couple of seasons ago. Mr. Stewart has a promising two-year-old half-sister tp Democratic, by Lucullus, and their dam, Demoiselle, is due to foal again to the same sire. Reports from Awapuni s credit Keddar with training on satisfactorily in his preparation at that centre. The Arrowsmith gelding won four races last season, mostly over sprint distances and earned £iIGO in stake-money. His best_ performance was registered in the Railway Handicap, six furlongs, at Trentham in March last, in which event he defeated Cimabue and several other smart sprinters and ran the distance in I.IIL Keddar is expected to make his first appearance this season at the Wanganui meeting, which opens on September 12.

Speed Light, by Paper Money from Simper, who is now in charge of F. J. McKay at Invercargill, is stated'to be coming to hand satisfactorily, as is also her sister, Lucky Light. Vertigcrn and Talisker, two of Mr. C. Elgar's team, are reported to be going i well at Wanganui, Neither has raced since last February, but Vertigern proved himself a good horse, his victories including the Wellington Cup. Mr. W. Kemp's brood mare Miss Ethel, by Wairiki from Miss Rose, has produced a chestnut colt foal to Chief Ruler. The newcomer is a half-brother to King. Emerald and Gold Money and a fullbrother to Ruling King. Master Doon was schooled over several pony hurdles at Ellerslie yesterday morning and gave a safe display. The Lucullus gelding, who has been doing well in his recent track work, will contest hurdle events at the Avondale meeting. Commendation, who was not accepted for at the Marton meeting, is in regular , work under Geo. Jones' care at Awapuni. His owner, Mr. W. H. Gaisford, is away from New Zealand on holiday and Commendation will not race until his return, early in October. Glengariff is among the hurdlers nominated for the, Wanganui meeting. This gelding won four events last season, his lust success being at Egmont. He subsequently failed in his engagements at Wanganui and Trentham and has not raced since then. Several speedy hacks are engaged in the Farewell Handicap, five furlongs, to be run on the concluding day of the Marton meeting. Among them is Black Maire, Joy Germ, Pellette, Haviland andKing Peg, who should worthily represent the Auckland district. Cashier was a good three-year-old last season, his successes including the Rangitikei and Hawke's Bay Cups. He has not raced since the autumn, but is engaged at the Wanganui meeting. He would only need to reproduce his best form to be hard to beat. • The Southland trainer F. W. Ellis is expected to leave by the Malieno' tomorrow for Melbourne with Gold Cup, by Woorak—Golden Beauty, . and The Graphic, by Paper Money—Kilberry. The former cost Mr. W. S. McDermott, his Melbourne owner, lOOOgs as a yearling. Prince Lu, who accounted for the Penrose and Orakei Hurdle Races at the Great Northern meeting, is engaged at the Wanganui fixture. He has a lot of pace, but at Trentham in July he failed to stay on. However, seeing he has not raced since he may do better when fresh. Although Eager Rose has only been in commission at Ellerslie during the last week or so, the chestnut mare looks really well and had evidently done a fair amount of work before coming to headquarters. She shaped nicely in a halfmile sprint yesterday .morning and promises to come to hand quickly. Hunting Boy, who claims engagements at the Wanganui meeting next week, was a promising two-year-oid, for lie Avon three events out of six starts, while he was third in another race. He is by Hunting Song from , Sheila, by Multifid from- Erin, by Menschikoff from Cressy, and is trained by L. Knapp at Awapuni. Blue Paper, winner of the second division of the Maiden Plate at Dannevirke, | is due to make his next appearance in the Farewell Hack Handicap, five fur- ■, longs, to be run on the concluding day at Marton. Blue Paper, who won very impressively at Dannevirke, is likely to be one of. the favourite division for this event. Roundelay, the three-year-old Limond —Tivoli gelding, who ran second to Last Mark in the Novice Handicap at the Wellington meeting in July, is reported : to have grown and furnished into aigoodlooking sort. He is. engaged in hack ! events at the Wanganui meeting and recent track form suggests that he will run prominently. i The Avondale Stakes candidate Ruling King displayed plenty of pace when i; sprinted over four furlongs on the course ! proper yesterday morning. For his size ■ Ruling King gets into his stride very : quickly and has a resolute style of gal- i loping when extended. He is improving with every work-out and promises to be in first-class trim for his initial race, ' which will be in the Avondale Stakes, to j be decided this month. | Golden Wedding, who claims a couple i of engagements in hurdle races at the l Avondale meeting, is getting through a j sound preparation at Ellerslie. Although not so big in condition as she usually 1 looks, this mare has hardened up and i bears a very muscular appearance. 1 Golden Wedding has shown promise of > developing into a successful hurdler and , she is likely to do still better before"the present sason is concluded. Although carrying plenty of condition as the result of his 'short spell since racing at the Wellington winter meeting, Kauri Park is bowling along very freely in his work at headquarters. J. Lambess has been very patient with the Elysian gelding and thoroughly deserves the success that came his way at the Great Northern meeting. There is every, chance of further stake-money attending Kauri Park's efforts while the going remains as it is at present. i A promising sort called Crubenmore is at present being trained on the Southland tracks. She was bred by Mr. A. Cliisliolm and is a daughter of Some Boy 11. from Sabor (imp.), by Fowlingpiece (son of Carbine), and on looks she should be capable of carving out a merry pace when it comes to her turn to face an official starter (says "Sir Modred"). For her size she can cover more ground in a stride than many gallopers who can give her inches in height, and, generally speaking, she-is a nice miniature racehorse in the making and probably one who will earn her Keep, and that is high praise in these days when races are difficult to win.
