BACHELOR TAX REJECTED.
JUNIOR UNITED PARTY BILL.
At the third sitting of the mock Parliament under the auspices of the Junior Lnited political organisation at the Chamber of Commerce, a bill to impose a super-tax on bachelors over the age of 2-» years gave rise to a profitable and amusing debate. The mover of the bill stressed tile fact that a large number of unmarried men in the Dominion were not bearing a fair share of taxation. The House divided and the motion was lost by a considerable majority.
Much interest centres around these functions, and many capable speakers have been discovered among the young men of the organisation. The House adjourned until 7.30 p.m. on Monday next, when a bill to increase the tariff "on imported timber will be debated.
