POINT CHEVALIER TRAMS.
SECTIONS MAY BE REVIEWED
RESIDENTS MAKE PROTEST,
Point Chevalier residents protested in a letter to the Auckland Transport Board to-day against the sectional divisions on the Point Chevalier Road of the tramway extension. "A great injustice is being inflicted," stated the •secretary of the Point Chevalier School Committee, "not only on school children, but also on the members of both churches."
Further, it was stated that the district warranted consideration, with its heavy summer traffic made up of the working class type of family from Grey Lynn, Kingsland and Arch Hill. Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman, said the people of Point Chevalier seemed to be under a misapprehension. The board had resolved to apply for an Order-in-Council, providing for three sections from Surrey Crescent to the beach. It was incorrect to say there were two sections from the hall to the beach. There was one section and a portion of another.
Mr. M. J. Coyle asked whether the position would te subject to a review when the trams were running and there had been a full test.
The chairman gave an assurance that the present decision should not be regarded as final if it proved unsatisfactory.
