TREES BLOWN DOWN.
(By Telegraph.— Association.) ASHBURTON", Monday.
The worst north-west gale for some years swept Asliburton County last night. A number of electric power poles were brought down as a result of trees falling across the lines. Plantations suffered severely. In one case a belt of trees two miles long, near Methven, was blown down for threequarters of its length.
