MOTOR CAR'S "WOBBLE."
CAUSE OF FATAL ACCIDENT
DANGEROUS CORNER ON HILL.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DANNEVIRKE, Monday.
An inquest was held to-day concerning the death last Wednesday of Mr. Charles Michael McPeak, of the Government Audit Office staff, Napier, whose spine was broken in a motor car accident on the Mangatera Hill, near Dannevirke.
| The driver of the car, Mr. T. G. Scott Smith, said the vehicle developed a "wobble" when going up the hill, and, in spite of his efforts, he failed to overcome it. In consequence he took a wider sweep of the corner than he would otherwise have done. The car went over the bank, turned a complete somersault and came to rest on its wheels. The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical . evidence, and added a rider recommending the erection of a warning post and a substantial fence, painted white, at the scene of the accident. Another car went over the bank at exactly the same place on Saturday afternoon, in broad daylight. The driver, who was the only person in the car, escaped with minor injury.
