AUCKLAND AMATEURS

TITLE TOURNEY OPENS,

The annual tourney for the Auckland provincial amateur billiard title was opened at the Billiards, Limited, showroom last night, when the holder, E. V. Roberts, met and defeated E. W. Warren. Roberts struck his game at once and with early breaks, varying from 20 to 50, amassed 2G6 points while Warren was 51, and ran out an easy winner. The final scores were: E. V. Roberts 500, E. W. Warren 96. Roberts' best breaks were: 23, 29, 52, 35, 41, 21, 32, 22, 20, 2G and 42 unfinished, making an average of 15. The game this afternoon is between W. E. Hackett and D. Jones and tonight M. D. White plays F. Lovelock.
