DOUBLE WEDDING.

FREAR—FIELDSEND, STEWART— FIELDSEXD. A double wedding of wide interest was solemnised at the Pitt Street Methodst Church on Saturday evening, when Edith Isobel, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Fieldsend, of Sinclair Road, Devon port, was united in marriage to John, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C Frear, of Te Aroha. Both brides were given away by their fathoi, the first bride's frock being of silver lace with an overdress of Castillc chiffon, cut in pointed draperies. A beautiful spiaj of lace and silver convolvulus, was arranged at one side of the waist, and the tulle veil was held in place by a chaplet and ear sprays of orange blossom. The brides' sister, Miss Gertrude Fieldsend. was in attendance and wore a frock of orchid cyclamen georgette beaded in opalescent and crystal beads. Her felt picture hat was of the same shade with deeper coloured velvet ribbon. A shower bouquet was carried of lavender and violet flowers. . Mi. George- X. 1* rear acted as best man. . .The other bride was Miss Freda Rose Fieldsend, the second daughter, who wore a oown of ivorv souple satin 'with pctalled overdress of georgette and long hip bow of satin. The embroidered tulle veil was swathed over the head cap fashion and had clusters of blossoms at each cai. Beautiful shower bouquets were carried by the brides. The bridegroom was Mr. Robert Stewart, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Stewart, of Glcnpark Avenue, Epsom. The bridesmaid was the "room's sister, Miss Peggy Stewart, whoVas in a frock of water lily green tulle, with three small flounces on the skirt edged with ribbons. She wore a rrreen cloche felt hat in same tones and carried a primrose and daffodil sliowei bouquet. Mr. William Stewart, the bridegroom's brother, was best man. The church was decorated by girl friends of the brides, four wedding bells being used, two at the entrance and the others over the altar. Bowls of arum lilies and spring flowers were used, and the ends of the pews were also decorated. The Rev. F. Martin, of Devonport, performed both ceremonies, Mr. Bickerton presiding at the organ. Oiange and yellow tonings were used for the Penrith rooms, when a large assemblage of guests were received by Mrs. Fieldsend. The hostess wore a ciel blue l georgette frock embroidered in gold and blue chenille, and a blue hat with spray of shaded primulas, and she carried a gold bouquet. Mrs. Frear was in floral chelan georgette in shades of mauve and salmon. Mrs. Stewart, black georgette embroidered in silver. Miss I rear, handembroidered cerise satin, with kingfisher blue satin coat. Mrs. John Spence (Wellington), palm forest green charmeline with gold waist buckle and piqued bow and sash. MENZIES—MARSHALL. Large bowls of amaryllis, palms and violets gave the Khandallali Presbyterian Church a beautiful appearance on Wednesday morning, when the marriage took place of Miss Elsie Marshall, recently of the staff of the Whangarei High School, and Mr. Roy Menzies, of the National Bank, Whangarei. The Rev. R. Watson was the officiating minister. The bride wore a frock of nymph georgette and satin, the circular skirt being scalloped round the waist and bordered at the hem with a deep grouping of alternate pleated frills of satin and georgette. Her picture hat was of mushroom pink sisal straw, trimmed with velvet leaves to tone, and she carried a sheaf of cyclamen. The bridesmaid, Miss Barbara Syme, cousin of the bride, was in powder blue georgette with a large hip bow of pale iemon. Her wide-brimmed hat was trimmed with touches of matching blue and she carried a bouquet of Iceland poppies and primroses. Mr. E. J. Johnston, of the National Bank, Wellington, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Empire Hotel, where the large drawing room was delightfully arranged with bowls of narcissi and Iceland poppies. Mrs. Marshall, mother of the bride, received the guests wearing a grey and blue costume with a figured scarf and hat to tone.
