MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD
A meeting f the Mount Roskill Road Board was -held last night, Mr. E. F. Jones presiding. . . , Loan Proposals.—lt was arranged that members of the (board should address a meeting of ratepayers in the Kingstone Avenue Hall next Monday nighty to explain the proposals for the drainage of the western area, and the paving with concrete of Mount Albert and Three King's Roads. Winstone Estate. —Messrs S. I. Good all and G. E. Tansley reported that Mr. G. Winstone, sen., had donated ten per cent of his property at Mount Roskill for public recreation grounds. The report was adopted, and the plans of subdivision approved in the terms of the report of Mr. J. Dawson, C.E., and the parks and reserves committee. The surface of the right-of-way is to be covered with 6 inches of scona and provision for the proper future .maintenance of the right-of-way made to the satisfaction of the board. Street Lights.—The attention of the Auckland Power Board is to be drawn to the inadequate power of the district street —The Auckland Transport Board wrote that it was prepared to revert to the old route for the Waikowbai bus service, provided that Hillsboro Road is maintained in a reasonable state oi repair. This met with the Boards approval. , . . ~, Finance.—The general fund is ™ debt £1858. Accounts amounting to £l/ 86 were passed for payment. Piggeries. —The Public Health and Mount Roskill inspectors reported that some of the pigkeepers in the district had not taken any notice of the instruction given to clean up their piggeries, and these were now being conducted without a license, contrary to tlie by-law. It was decided zc give three owners named ; in the inspectors' report another six weeks' grace m which to comply with the by-law. Seymore Park. —The board accepted an offer of £26 per annum for the lease of Seymore Park' from Mr. A. W. Dell.
WAIUKU TOWN BOARD
A special meeting of the above was held on Monday evening, Mr. J. A .James presiding. The Plunket Society was granted permission to erect stalls on. Bowen Street for a paddy's market. The chairman reported that a telegram had been received from Mr. J. Massey, M.P., to the effect that provision had been made for twelve unemployed men in the district on the Pollok relief -works, and asking that names should be forwarded at once. ( The clerk of works reported that the concrete beams and roof had been put on the reservoir, and it only required plastering to complete the contract; also that the second bore would be put down shortly. The board, as trustees of the recreation reserve, decided to carry out further drainage work on the reserve, and that the lessee be requested "to remove the old pig fence and destroy all noxious weeds. Mr. Hanna forwarded copies of completed by-laws for the reserve for signature and the board's eeal.
