The Prime Minister, replying to a question, said it would not be a Royal commission, but something in the nature of a Departmental inquiry, and it would! conduct its proceedings in close cooperation with tlie Harbour Bridge Association. He added that details of the inquiry had yet to be arranged at subsequent meetings of Cabinet. The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, stated, in an interview, that the commission would hear evidence brought by the committee 01 the Harbour Bridge Association. Later it would report to the Government on the feasibility of spanning the Waitemata Harbour with a traffic bridge. The Auckland Harbour Bridge Association was being asked to submit suggestions to the Government in regard to the best method to adopt in setting up the commission, and when that report came to hand more detailed information regarding the Government's proposals would be given. ,
