WRESTLING.
VANCE GETS HIS DESIBE. RETURN MATCH WITH ALLEY. r , f After he had slammed Marraci Gardeni to defeat in the Town Hall, on Monday evening, Farmer Vance, the Canadian light-heavv-weight champion, went to the edge of the ring staging and attempted to speak to the crowd. So loud was the din, however, that he was unable to make himself heard and soon gave up the attempt as a bad job. In his dressing room Vance said that what he had-tried , to tell the crowd was that the man he ' most wanted to meet was Tom Alley. In ■ the first match he was beaten by Alley, but he claimed that then he was only one ' week off the boat, whereas Alley had . been in Auckland for over a month. Since he had proved his real worth ; against Gardeni he claimed that he was | now entitled to a return match with Alley. ! Vance is now to be given a chance to prove that he is a better man than Alley. At a meeting of the New Zealand Wrestling Association's match committee yesterday afternoon the pair were matched for Monday evening next. In view of the keen rivalry between the men, the match should prove an excellent draw. Alley, who has had two wins for two matches so far this season, is also billed to meet Naranjan Singh on Monday week. September 2. Both the Mormon and the Sikh have deposited £100 to bind the contest.
