Wild Country showed a lot of pace over the first three, furlongs and .was in. front at that stage, brit ; Taneriri finished on. the better of . the pair and was, in front at the. end. ' Marj.ta took 1.2T 2-5 to complete a six furlong journey. He is. looking improved and may pick up a stake during the spring meetings. - Otranto traversed a round, running the last seven furlongs in 1.38 4-5, and the final sis furlongs in 1.25 2-5. Whakarite and New Boy worked nicely over five furlongs, which took /1.12 3-5., Sulla had Measurer as a 'companion over four furlongs, • which ■ they covered in 54 S-os. Measurer is on the improve; Others ■to do useful" work were Hyde Park, Palmares. Golden Wedding, Optimistic, Odin, The Lover, Tin Whistle, Standfast- and Cynthia N. The Two-year-olSs. Ruling King and Dusky Maid were sent over three furlongs on the two-year-old track, running the distance in 40s. There was little between them at the finish, and considering the state of the going it was a good performance. Pal and Maua Whenua were sprinted a couple of furlongs, which they ran in 26a. Both youngsters shaped pleasingly. The Jumpers. Master Clements (McGregor) was tried over a couple of pony hurdles. He cleared the first one safely, but having no pace on he baulked at the second. He was taken, back and jumped it all right. .' . •"' ' . ;; ... ■ Chelone (Husband), and Zane Grey (Duggan) cleared a . Couple of pony hurdles in good style. They, were trotted around and repeated the performance over two big hurdles.'' Chelone got in toe close to the last fence, otherwise lie shaped well, and with a little more schooling he should turn out useful. Stonewall (Mr. Kendall) gave a safe display while negotiating half a dozen schooling hurdles. Kawiti (Nightingale) baulked the. first time he was tried at a pony hurdle, but eventually cleared a couple -safely.
