HELP TO BE SENT?
DETECTIVE FROM AUCKLAND. KNOWLEDGE OF CHRISTCHURCH. It is reported from Christohurch that Detective Sergeant J. Bickerdike, oE Auckland, and possibly other expert detective officers from other metropolitan centres will be temporarily transferred to Christchurch in connection with the activities of the fire fiends operating there. When aesked about the matter this afternoon Inspector J. W. Hollis, in eharge of the central district, said he had not received any official notification of such' a course being taken. However, it is believed that there is every likelihood of Mr. Bickerdike being sent to Christchurch. For many years he served in the police in the Cathedra! City, both as a constable and later as a detective. He knows the city and its criminals exceeding well. It will be remembered that Detective Sergeant Bickerdike wa»s assigned for special dut v in Christchurch after the Burwood murder had been committed.
